Steps Conductive Education Centre

“Steps Conductive Education Centre* in Leicestershire - which is the only centre of its kind in the East Midlands - is in desperate need of funds. The recession has badly affected donations and unless extra funds are found, Steps could close – which would be a real tragedy.

As well as transforming the lives of the young children who attend from all over the region, it offers a real life-line to the parents and families of these very special children who are affected by Down syndrome, cerebral palsy and other motor disorders.

Each year the charity needs to raise £200,000 to operate and, whilst it currently receives a grant from Children in Need and funding from the local PCT, the balance of around £150,000 has to be met by fundraising.

I have been Patron of Steps since it was formed in1994 and I am passionate about the work it achieves and how the children and families are helped and supported by the remarkable 15-strong team who work there.
