Mark Hopkins and David Watchorn of Elwell Watchorn & Saxton LLP were appointed Joint Administrators of Rosemary Conley Food & Fitness Ltd on 3rd of Feb 2014. The Joint Administrators manage the affairs, business and property of the company as agents and act without personal liability.
Emma received her award – along with £1,000 cash – from Rosemary Conley, CBE, at a glittering ceremony held at the London Marriott County Hall Hotel on Thursday 3rd January and is featured in the February issue of Rosemary Conley Diet & Fitness magazine, on sale now and on Rosemary’s free internet TV channel, www.rosemaryconley.tv.
Emma is the first to admit she has always loved food. By the age of 11 she was 11st, at 12 she was 12st and on it went. Being so overweight really knocked Emma's confidence and self-esteem and she suffered at the hands of the school bullies. “A girl in my class used to flick her lighter at my hair and others punched and kicked me to the floor just because I was overweight,” says Emma.
After leaving school at the age of 16, Emma started work as a bakery assistant in her local Sainsbury's. She was surrounded by jam-filled doughnuts, warm, freshly baked bread and cakes every day. Whilst at first it seemed like heaven to the food-lover, it was not so good for her figure, which was by then pushing 14st 7lb.
Rosemary Conley class finderEmma left her job seven months later as she knew she couldn't work around food anymore and decided to pursue her dream career as a hairdresser. But, after securing interviews at local salons, Emma wasn't successful in being offered a job. “The hair industry is all about looking good and having the right image and mine wasn't desirable. As soon as I walked through the door I could see they were shocked by my size,” says Emma.
With her confidence at rock bottom, Emma thought her dream was over, especially when she fell pregnant at the age of 20. Having only gained 2st in nine months during her pregnancy Emma started breast-feeding after the birth of her son and her weight dropped to 13st. But, when she stopped breast-feeding the weight piled on so rapidly that she gained 3st in just two months.
To cope with the demands of a young child, Emma began to eat constantly throughout the day. “The amount I was eating was disgusting but it wasn't until my brother posted New Year pictures of me onto Facebook that I realised just how big I had become. My stomach was huge and my face was puffed out. The tops of my arms were as big as my thighs are now,” adds Emma.
Emma started dieting straight away and managed to lose 7lb before realising she needed extra help. In February 2011, as her partner's mother had lost a lot of weight with the help of a Rosemary Conley Club, Emma decided to join her.
By July 2012, having lost 5 stone and being able to easily fit into size 12 jeans, Emma's confidence increased and she signed up to do a one-year NVQ course in hairdressing, something she would never have dared to do a year and a half before.
Emma continued to lose weight and by September, when she started at college, Emma weighed just 9st 12lb to walk through the gates of Bromley College as a slimline size 10 with a huge smile on her face. “I now have my whole life to look forward to and I can't wait,” says Emma.
