When Cheryl Taylor from Aldershot, Hampshire was diagnosed with cervical cancer, she vowed that, if she After receiving the all-clear, Cheryl – who used to weigh 19st 3lb and wear a dress size 28/30 - began her weight loss regime and succeeded in shedding 9st 3lb with the help of Rosemary Conley Diet and Fitness Clubs to become a slimline size 10/12 and weigh just 10 stone.
36-year old Cheryl is now featured in the August/September issue of Rosemary Conley Diet & Fitness magazine, on sale from Thursday 5th August, and on Rosemary Conley’s new free internet TV channel, www.rosemaryconley.tv
Mother-of-four Cheryl said: “I decided that if my life was going to be shortened, I wanted to make sure I spent the rest of it healthy, fit, slim and happy, rather than unhealthy, unfit, fat and miserable!”
As a schoolchild, Cheryl was 2st heavier than the other children and she would get picked on by children calling her ‘fatty’ and throwing stones at her. “That’s what turned me into a comfort eater,” says Cheryl. “Anytime I felt low or worried, I’d graze and binge on food but never really felt full.”
When Cheryl got married at the age of 19, she wore a size 18 wedding dress and as she and her new husband both worked long hours they lived on junk food and takeaways. When Cheryl fell pregnant with her eldest child, who is now 15 years old, she used pregnancy as an excuse to eat even more ‘bad’ food. And, with each of her three other pregnancies she continued to pile on even more weight.
Cheryl suffered from aching legs and feet and her breathing was so laboured people thought she had asthma. Her doctor told her to slim because of her dangerously high blood pressure, but still Cheryl ignored her own problems and continued to put her family first.
Following the cancer diagnosis and with a clean bill of health, Cheryl decided to tackle her weight problem head on. Cheryl cut back on fatty foods and started walking and working out to Rosemary Conley’s videos at home, and managed to lose 2 stone before she joined the Rosemary Conley Diet and Fitness Club in Farnborough.
“Everyone at the class was so friendly – we were all there for the same reason. I made new friends and, week by week as my weight went down, my mood went up. I began to feel in charge of my body for the very first time,” says Cheryl, who is hoping to one day train to be an instructor herself, so she can encourage and inspire more people to change their lives, as she has done.
Now, Cheryl walks everywhere and has even taken up jogging. Her exercise classmates have nicknamed her the ‘Duracell Bunny’ as she always exercises at the high-impact level. Cheryl still jumps when she sees her reflection in shop windows. “It still amazes me! I’m a whole new woman.”
The full story of how Cheryl achieved weight loss success can be found in the August/September issue of Rosemary Conley Diet & Fitness magazine on sale in newsagents and supermarkets nationwide from Thursday 5th August or tune into www.rosemaryconley.tv.
