Rosemary Conley slimmer and instructor are there for each other

With October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month it is fitting that in the Oct/Nov issue of Rosemary Conley Diet & Fitness magazine – on sale from Thursday 3rd October – one of the featured slimmers is 40-year old Colleen Williams from Longlevens, Gloucester and her Rosemary Conley Diet & Fitness Clubs instructor, Corinne Stevenson.

For, whilst Colleen was battling with her weight, Corinne began her own battle – with breast cancer. With Corinne as her inspiration, Colleen, who used to weigh 17st 3lb and wear a dress size 18, has succeeded in shedding 6st 7lb in just 10 months to now weigh 10st 10lb.

Colleen had been overweight since after she had given birth to her son Kieren, who is now 15. Since then, Colleen’s weight has yo-yoed between 10st and 17st due to her lack of willpower and her sweet tooth. But, with the help of Corinne and the Rosemary Conley Diet & Fitness Club she still attends, Coleen has maintained her weight loss for a year and fully intends to keep it that way. “I know I won’t slip back into my old was so long as I attend class. The support is unbelievable, says Colleen.

“Corinne’s attitude and support has pushed me towards my target weight and I wanted to make her proud,” adds Colleen.

Corinne was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011. “When she announced it to the class later that year we were all in shock but her strength was so inspiring,” says Colleen. Despite undergoing surgery and an intense course of chemotherapy which left her fatigued, Corinne still attended almost every class to support her slimmers in their hour of need.

Adds Corinne: “When I told my members I had breast cancer their support was overwhelming. It’s fair to say that Colleen and I have supported each other over the past two years and seeing her reach her goal weight was such a proud moment for me. When I look at Colleen now it’s hard to believe she was once one of my most shy members.”

Since losing such a staggering amount of weight, Colleen no longer suffers with migraines, asthma and sciatica, conditions she endured when she was overweight. And now when she goes on family holidays in South Wales during the summer months, Colleen can walk up the steps from the beach without getting out of breath. “That alone is the incentive I need to not put the weight back on,” adds Colleen.
