Caytie Wightman with RosemaryHello, my name is Caytie and I have been running Rosemary Conley Food & Fitness classes in Cumbria and North Lancashire since September 1999.

Firstly let me say that I don’t have long blond hair, long perfect legs, an ironing board stomach and breasts that defy gravity and no I don’t wear a leotard and thong.

I started running classes because they worked for me. I have never been huge but I was always "the chubby one" out of all my friends.

Mine was a common story, I married had 2 children and my weight went up.  I tried all the diets and classes but none kept the weight off as they did not offer both diet and exercise. I read about the Rosemary Conley classes through the magazine and enrolled in my nearest class which then was 30 miles away.

Although my love for all things bad for me will always be a battle, I maintain a healthy weight through a combination of low fat eating and exercise.  I still have the odd bad day and I still love chocolate and the odd glass of wine but I can still enjoy them using my treat allowance.

We offer a variety of 13 classes locally, which are run by me and my brilliant instructor Clare - we are a small but perfectly formed team of motivators! I cover the Kendal area and Clare covers Barrow/Ulverston and Lindale.  Clare was a class member herself and lost 2 stones before she became an instructor, so she really understands what it feels like to be on a weightloss journey.

Classes to me are not just about losing weight but also about the social aspect and support.  We have great fun in class with all sorts of trips and events and losing weight, I like to think, is just a pleasant side effect! In the last 12 months we have raised over £2000 for three different local charities through aerobathons and zumbathons (see us ready to belly dance, right!), as well as visited the Rosemary Conley Roadshow in Glasgow (see us with Rosemary below) and been on a shopping trip to Chester and a long weekend in London, to mention a few of our events... 2014 is already looking like a busy year too!

The amount of lbs of fat my members have lost could fill a swimming pool and for me, seeing the changes in my members’ figures and their confidence is the biggest buzz of all.


Our Slimmers are SUCCESSFUL - each year we celebrate their success at our Christmas parties (where we are not the food police). At the end of 2012, we congratulated Super Fit Marion and Helen on losing 3.5 Stones each following one of our BootCamps and Yummy Mummy Sam on losing an amazing 4 Stones . Are we into serious weight loss?
41-year old Lady Arabella Onslow, a GP from Kirkby-in-Furness, Cumbria, scooped the Rosemary Conley Food & Fitness Magazine Health Professional Slimmer of the Year 2012 Award, after shedding a massive ten stone with the help of Rosemary Conley Food & Fitness Classes to now weigh just 11st 10lb and wear a dress size 12 for the first time in more than twenty years. “If someone had told me when I first started that it would take just a little more than a year to transform my life, I would never have believed them,” says Arabella, who has done just that at classes in Ulverston and Barrow. “I haven’t just lost weight, I feel different and I look at life differently. The support and guidance I received proved invaluable.

Not all the people who join have a lot of weight to lose. Some just want to get fit and others may want to lose over half their body weight.

We have teenagers, and we have OAP’s and plenty in between. We split the class into sections, beginners, moderate and leapers. There is never any mention of “no pain no gain”. Instead, everyone is encouraged to work at their own pace and sit down when they have had enough.

As a Rosemary Conley Food & Fitness instructor I know it is not just about weight loss and exercise, it is about you and how you feel. I am here to support you at your local class & in turn help you become slimmer, fitter, healthier & happier.

Each class consists of a weigh-in, a short motivational talk offering nutritional help & advice & a fun-filled 45 minute workout. It is your class and you can choose the combination that works for you, weigh in and work out, work out only or weigh in only.

If you do want to join in the exercise session please bring with you a bottle of water and wear loose, comfortable clothing and a pair of training shoes. Many members wear leggings and a T-shirt, but whatever you feel happy exercising in is fine with us.
Our classes are friendly and welcoming and there’s a great atmosphere in all our classes. No one is made to feel embarrassed and your weigh-in is very discreet, so, apart from myself and my staff no one else will know how much you weigh. If you are thinking of joining on your own, as many of my members do, there's no need to worry: you're soon amongst friends at a Rosemary Conley class. It doesn’t matter if you’ve got a little or a large amount of weight to lose. We can help you and we’re with you every step of the way.

At present we offer a variety of classes including Kardy-o-Fun, aerobics, FitSteps, Body Blitz, cheerleading and circuits. 

Pay monthly for your classes and save money. For just £25.00 per calendar month, paid by standing order, you can attend UNLIMITED classes - the more classes you attend, the more lbs you lose, the more money you save! For £22.00 per calendar month, attend one class a week and save a month's money over the course of a year.

On a weekly basis, my classes cost just £6.25  and there’s a one-off joining fee of £10 for your membership and diet pack. If you are interested in exercise only this would cost £4.50  per class attended. If you are staying for the exercise session, the class lasts for 90 minutes.
