Slimming classes in Wigan.

Chris Whistlecroft with RosemaryHi there and welcome to my homepage. If you’ve got this far then it may be that you’re considering coming along to one of our classes, so let me tell you a little bit about myself and what you can expect when you attend one of our classes.

In 2001 (the year before my 40th birthday!), I decided my life needed a change of direction. Fortunately for me, I love to exercise; I would spend hours trying different classes at the gym and would cycle for miles whenever the opportunity arose. Also, I always tried to keep to a healthy well-balanced diet and had always followed a Rosemary Conley plan if I felt I needed help with controlling my weight. So, it seemed a great idea to combine the two. Not only would I be able to carry on with my exercise but I would be helping other people to achieve the benefits I was already experiencing…perfect!

   In September 2012 I received my 10 year award from Rosemary at our annual convention.
I am extremely proud of the successes that my club members have achieved over the last 10 years. I regularly lose count of the number of times they tell me how their lives have changed so much for the better since they've lost their weight and made simple changes to their lifestyles by incorporating a little more regular exercise.

It truly is an honour working with such amazing people and seeing changes in a member's life is one of the things I love most about my job. It really does make turning out to work each day a pleasure to do.


Together with my employee Annette Lord (pictured right), I currently run 9 classes each week throughout the Wigan area. We offer a variety of exercise including our new style Kardy-O-Fun and Kardy-O-Fun aerobics (traditional aerobics with a little Kardy flavour weaved in). We work hard to make the exercise in our classes fun and enjoyable for everyone, so don't worry about co-ordination or having 'two-left feet' - fitness is for all and we are trained to adapt our exercise to suit people of all different fitness levels so there really is 'something for everyone' in our classes.

We also put a lot of hard work into giving our classes a real club feel, organising trips and the occasional nights out for those who want to come along together with various fundraising events. I offer email support together with regular newsletters so that members can have contact with me between classes if they so wish.

We are always being told by members how friendly and welcoming our classes are and what a great atmosphere there is. No one is made to feel embarrassed and your weigh-in is very discreet, so, apart from myself, and my staff no one else will know how much you weigh.  If you are thinking of joining on your own, as many of our members do, there’s no need to worry: you’re soon amongst friends at one of our classes. It doesn’t matter if you’ve got a little or a large amount of weight to lose. We can help you and we’re with you every step of the way.



In April 2012 we launched this new concept in some of our classes and the response has been amazing! Members are having the best fun whilst taking part in a very simple and effective work-out. Then in November 2012 we were fortunate enough to be able to hold one of the increasingly popular Kardy party's that are now happening around the UK.

Mr Kardy Laguda came along to Wigan and presented a fantastic party style class for over 170 of our members and their family/friends. It was a phenomenal day as not only did we have lots of fun but we raised £1,000 in aid of 3 local hospices to boot!





NEW FROM APRIL 2013....
Now you can really turn up the heat on your workouts with Kardy-O-Fun Interval, a new format exclusively for Rosemary Conley classes. It will keep your diet & fitness programme feeling fresh, productive and progressive - you can mix it with your usual class and combined, of course with Rosemary's diet, you can't fail to lose those pounds and inches!

Kardy-O-Fun Interval has been inspired by High Intensity Interval Training (Hiit) and Tabata training methods. Both of these methods use interval training, and although you are asked to push your boundaries, you can be assured you will not be expected to do anything that far exceeds your own personal limitations - it really is suitable for eveyone!

Like the Bootcamps (mentioned further down this page), Kardy-O-Fun Interval will run in addition to my regular weigh & exercise classes. They will run as a 6-session course lasting just 30 minutes each session...but what a great work-out!

Who is Kardy Laguda?
Kardy is a world class, dance-based, fitness instructor who presents exercise in an inclusive fashion i.e. everyone in the room 'gets it' and leaves his sessions with a sense of achievement and accomplishment. We can't wait for him to return!

Fundraising & Events...

Members of our classes are welcome to take part in as much or as little as they please. Whether it be one of our fundraising events or one of the many various breaks we've enjoyed to London, Harrogate and Centre Parcs. Of course this is all optional and extra to what we do in class, we never push anyone to do something they don't want to be a part of or may not have time to commit to. We do find however that most members love to get involved with fundraising for both local and national charities, and quite often enjoy a little trip away from home too! We are definitely more than just any ordinary slimming club!

We dedicated the majority of class fundraising we did in 2012 to Wigan & Leigh Hospice and very proud to be able to say that we raised over £1500. We are going to continue this in 2013.


Race for Life
We have been involved in the Wigan Race for Life event for the last 10 years and have always been joined by a team of members. Whether its been a small team or a large team we have had great fun doing it, with everyone encouraging each other around the course and raising money for Cancer Research UK at the same time, its always wonderful to be a part of it.

Pink Aerobics
Other events we've done over the years has been a Pink Aerobics aerobathon, these are usually held in October to help fundraise for the Breast Cancer Campaign.

Again, many of our members like to take part in events like this and we always have great fun. Its just another thing that helps to give our classes that real 'club' feel, we know that events like this play a really important part in helping keep members motivated to work towards and achieve their own personal goals. Just click on the image opposite to view photos of one of our Pink Aerobathons.


The day the Rosemary Conley Roadshow came to Wigan
In October 2011 Rosemary visited Wigan with one of her roadshows and what a fantastic time we had. Over 50 of our members attended with us and were truly inspired by this great lady!

The picture opposite shows all of us presenting Rosemary with a lovely tapestry that was hand made by member Faye Parsons (pictured left of Rosemary), in celebration of Rosemary's 40th anniversary.

WHAT ELSE DO WE OFFER?



Subject to demand I do run the occasional bootcamp courses. These are normally held over a 4 - 6 week period as 1 hour sesssions each week. These courses are run in addition to my usual weekly class timetable and will always be advertised on my webpage.
As well as being fully qualified to teach exercise and nutrition already, both myself and Annette also have a nationally recognised qualification in instructing health related exercise for children. The CYQ (Central YMCA Qualifications) Certificate in Teaching Health-Related Exercise for Children, CYQ is the UK’s leading fitness-specific awarding body and supports delivery of Rosemary Conley’s revolutionary Kids 2 fitness programme.

We run these courses subject to demand and they prove to be extremely popular with the children (and their mums/dads!). Rosemary Conley Diet and Fitness Clubs have been in operation since 1993 and Rosemary has over forty years’ experience in helping people to slim down and shape up, so you could not be in better hands.

As ours is the only national organisation to offer dietary advice AND exercise in the same weekly class, there is no better place for you to lose weight and get fit. Even if you haven’t exercised for a long time, I can adapt the exercises to suit all abilities. However, if you don’t wish to join in the 45-minute exercise session, that’s fine with us!

A typical class consists of a weigh-in, a short motivational talk offering nutritional help and advice and the all important exercise to music workout, which lasts for just 45 minutes and focuses on fun and enjoyment.
 

If you do want to join in the exercise session please bring with you a bottle of water and wear loose, comfortable clothing and a pair of training shoes. Many members wear leggings and a T-shirt, but whatever you feel happy exercising in is fine with us.

If you prefer to pay weekly, the weekly class fee is £5.95 per session and this includes your exercise too, the membership fee is £10. Any additional exercise sessions within the same week are charged at £4 per session.
