n my working life before kids, I worked hard and got results and was rewarded accordingly. Since becoming a mum, I get rewarded with seeing first smiles, words, steps, etc., but I don’t actually achieve anything for myself. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining, but since becoming a Rosemary Conley addict, oops I mean member, I have felt that old feeling of excitement and reward. I have met a personal goal for me but the rewards extend way further than that. I have more energy, I can chase my boys and I can try clothes on that fit first time! My husband does not recognise me and keeps telling me how sexy I look. It’s a wonderful, wonderful feeling and I want it never to stop. My feet have actually shrunk by two sizes! What is that about? I am still coming to terms with my new shape and the few times I have been shopping, I always pick up clothes that are too big. Also, after being measured, I was shocked to find my boobies had gone from a 40E to 32F! I might use my old bras to hang my pegs in on the washing line.
My disbelief comes from what happened to me last week. I am still pinching myself now, wondering if it was all a lovely dream.
I was invited to Quorn House along with my fabulous sister, Rachel, to receive a makeover. We were with around seven other ladies, also receiving makeovers.
We met Rosemary herself (my heart was in my mouth) and she took us shopping one by one in Marks & Spencer, to find ‘the outfit’. I tried on a lovely top and trousers and some dresses. Every time I stepped out of the changing room, Rosemary and her team were on hand to give the scores on the doors for the said outfit. A very fitted purple and black dress and black patent shoes were chosen for myself. Actually, I am jumping ahead a little. On meeting Rosemary she asked my size, to which I replied, a 12. She looked at me and said, ‘Oh no, you are a lovely pear-shaped 10!’ Oh no no, I said. Anyway, all the outfits that were collected were a 10 and, guess what, they fitted me! Rosemary really knows what she is talking about.
Then it was on to hair and make-up. In my life before children, I was in the hair and beauty industry and really took it for granted. Since 2007 I have struggled to find a hairdresser that I love, and make-up only comes out for special occasions.
This was a proper treat and I felt like a trillion dollars. No longer a desperate housewife!
The photoshoot itself was fun, but I am so happy I wasn’t ‘born’ to be a model. It is so unnatural posing and smiling on cue. During the shoot, Rosemary teased my hair, placed my limbs and even lent me her lovely bracelet. She was very hands-on and encouraging.
Can’t wait to see the photos!
Hope for the future: looking forward to new clothes, active holidays instead of the couch potato ones I’m used to, teaching my children healthy habits for life and maintaining my current shape.
If anyone is ever in any doubt about losing weight, I would say DO IT. The Rosemary Conley plan is so simple and user-friendly for the whole family. It does not leave you hungry, you can still eat all your favourite foods in moderation and can go out to eat, without undoing all your hard work! The only person that can hold you back is yourself. If I can do it with my hectic lifestyle, anyone can. I cannot tell you how amazing it feels to be in a healthy BMI range. You need to experience it.
On to maintenance and I feel this is where the real work begins. I know I can do it, though. I am stronger than I ever believed. Let’s see how we go. I’ll keep you posted!
